Teho Teardo - Plays Twin Peaks and Other Infinitives (2025)

Teho Teardo's new album, featuring Stefano Bollani, Abel Ferrara, Keeley Forsyth, and numerous other musicians. Infinitives are infinitive verbs that can be declined to address the complex times we are living in. They are melodic fragments found in the compositions of Barbara Strozzi, Henry Purcell, J.S. Bach, and Angelo Badalamenti, which have reached us here because they travel through the air, like birdsong recorded at night in the woods.

In this album, the musical themes that inspired Teardo take us beyond the musical space they indicated, to arrive at a different feeling. In the liner notes, writer Paolo Pecere explains that the true traveler uses maps to reach places they don't mark, and ultimately asks whether we still want to distinguish illusion from truth, artifice from nature. It's increasingly difficult to do so; yet, we still fall in love.
