Alexander Zagorinsky - Valery Biktashev: Cello Chamber Music (2025)

Music by Russian composer Valery Biktashev has been released for the first time under the Melodiya label. The musician, who was born in Kazakhstan (which was then part of the Soviet Union), moved to Moscow and graduated from the Gnessins Music Pedagogical Institute (now known as the Gnessins Russian Academy of Music). Biktashev has written the opera The Little Prince, symphonic works, six vocal cycles based on the works of Pushkin, Blok, Yesenin, Tsvetaeva, and others, as well as several piano, cello, and guitar concertos, along with numerous chamber works for various ensembles. The composer’s vocal and instrumental music has been performed on Radio Orpheus and Russian Radio on multiple occasions.
