Basic Circuit Theory

This book is an outgrowth of a course intended for upper-division students in elec- trical engineering. The course is 20 weeks long and consists of three lectures and one two-hour recitation per week. Included in the book are enough additional materials to accommodate a full year's course. We assume that students have completed work in basic physics and mathematics, including some introduction to differential equations and some acquaintance with matrices and determinants. Previous exposure to some circuit theory and to electronic circuits is helpful, but not necessary.
